Coming Full Circle

Location: WMHT Educational Telecommunications, 4 Global View, Troy, NY

Coming Full Circle is a microlearning series hosted by the New York State Youth Justice Institute (YJI) that brings diverse perspectives together for action-focused conversations. This upcoming session explores Youth Justice and Technology through four lenses — research, lived experience, policy, and practice — across three 45-minute panels, with food, refreshments, and dedicated networking time throughout the day.

Panel 1 | Techquity as Justice: Technology access can open doors for young people impacted by the justice system. But access means more than just having a device. It’s about real skills, real opportunity, and real pathways forward. This panel looks at what equitable tech access actually requires and how it changes trajectories.

Panel 2 | The Future of Youth Workforce Development in an AI World: AI is changing the job market fast. Young people with justice involvement already face barriers to employment, and now they’re up against a shifting landscape too. This panel discusses how to prepare emerging workers for an AI-driven economy while keeping the human skills that make them essential: creativity, communication, and critical thinking.

Panel 3 | Mental Wellbeing in the Age of AI: AI tools for mental health are everywhere now. But some things healing requires don't come from an algorithm. This panel explores where AI can actually help young people’s well-being, where it falls short, and what genuine support has to include. "
